Had a great experience with Schutt and my customer service contacts to get the right helmet and the right parts to make it fit perfect.
First on the helmet - fits a little bigger than the measurement guide. I'm sure not everyone is the same shape head, but i would recommend rounding down to the lower size if you are just over based on my experience. The helmet quality and weight of the new 2.0 is fantastic. My son went from a SpeedFlex that he loved to this helmet and was nervous about whether it would feel as nice. He wore it for a couple hours on day one and we kept adjusting the air a bit and then the material softened up/broke in just a bit allowing it to feel great. We also changed out the cheek pads to thicker ones as he's still a 7th grader and that really made it perfect. We did all of this before he wore to practice, which I would highly recommend.
Performance - the helmet has been way above expectations. My original reason for upgrading was to improve overall safety. This helmet is rated in the top couple for all helmets and #1 or 2 for skill positions according to the Virginia Tech helmet ratings. I assumed the SpeedFlex he has was close and it was much further down the ratings with a much higher impact transfer rating. After a day or so at practice, he could absolutely tell that hitting and tackling was much quieter inside his helmet and he didn't really feel the impacts at all. He loves it!
Customer Service - I ordered multiple helmets of what was available in stock and needed customer service help to get the right components returned and ordered on the final match my son needed. My order was a bit confusing as I had also ordered a Vicis Zero 2 and needed to return and change sizes. I can't say enough about how great they were to help me through.
Great helmet! My son said it is comfortable and light. Head doesn’t hurt after football practice/games anymore!
Lightweight but protective. It accepted the Oakley face shield with minor modifications but overall very good quality. Excited for the season to start.
